Fellows Read-a-Thon 2023
Thursday, January 12th – Friday, January 20th
What is Read-a-thon?
Read-a-thon is one of the biggest annual fundraisers for the Fellows PTO. In the past, we have paid for all field trip transportation and costs, increased the amount of yearly teacher mini-grants, purchased books, school equipment, and lots more!
First, students set a goal for the total minutes they will read from Wednesday, January 10 – Monday, January 22. Every minute read at home and school counts – read aloud, to yourself, or listen to an audiobook! Last year, Fellows students read for a total of 327,570 minutes during Read-a-thon! Can you read even more this year?
Enter all home reading minutes online or if you prefer a paper log, please email FellowsElementaryPTO@gmail.com and we will provide one.
Next, ask parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and neighbors you know if they would like to support your school by becoming your sponsor. They can pledge a flat total amount or by the minute. DO NOT ask for pledges from someone you or your parents do not know; the Fellows PTO discourages any door-to-door solicitations.
Finally, celebrate with your supporters! Tell them your reading total and collect the donations by check made out to Fellows PTO or donate online via sqaurestore.
Read-a-thon Schedule
January 10-22: Read daily and record your minutes. Bring your log to school every day or log online for rewards.
Wednesday, January 17: Hollywood Day – wear something red carpet ready!
Thursday, January 18: Character Day – dress up like someone from your favorite book or movie!
Friday, January 19: Bedtime Stories – wear comfy clothes or pajamas!
Tuesday, January 23: Turn in your reading log. Minutes will be added this week and classroom totals announced on Friday.
January 23-26: Collect and submit any outstanding checks (made out to Fellows PTO) to the school.
January 26: Celebrate your reading accomplishments! Come back to Fellows at 6:30 PM to celebrate with a movie night.
